What we Do

UTP specialises in supplying best-in-class precision engineering for complex components to customers around the world.

Our three main competencies are in the provision of Milling, Turning and Grinding services, and we also excel in managing special projects from design through to completion.

Our skills in R&D have enabled us to support clients in whatever sector they are – enabling best-in-class components to be developed and manufactured. For examples of how we have helped our clients please see the individual sector headings. Our experienced engineers are able to advise and carry concepts through to delivery.

The experience we have gained over more than 60 years enables us to support our customers in designing components, choosing fit-for-purpose materials, and delivering high quality products on budget and on time.

Company History

Universal Tool & Production Company was founded in 1952 as a toolmaking company. It evolved into a production company in the early seventies and by the end of the seventies ceased commercial toolmaking. Since then the company has developed an excellent reputation in precision engineering, with clients in Oil and Gas, Aerospace and Nuclear, expanding to fill two manufacturing sites in Fareham, Hampshire. In 2017 the company moved to a large, purpose-built, sustainable building in Lee-on-Solent, with the capacity to service diverse industries that require high-precision heavy engineering.

The UTP Vision

To be recognised within industry as a leading UK supplier in the manufacture of high precision parts and components, providing superior service to our customers, being recognised as an employer of choice by our current and potential employees in a safe and sustainable environment, and to create outstanding value for our shareholders.

The UTP Mission

To focus on customer requirements to the extent that we anticipate needs, to deliver excellence on time and within budget.

To value and empower our people in a zero-incident, fit-for-purpose facility, enabling continuous personal growth and development.

To secure long-term, sustainable value creation to all stakeholders, and to ensure wise investment across industries to create viable growth into the future.

Working for UTP

UTP seeks to be an employer of choice, and has a strong focus on employee well-being, including the provision of continuous professional development, a fit-for-purpose facility with an emphasis on safety and quality, and community benefits.
