UTP was asked by a client to manufacture a component for use on the Airbus A380, a complex component that can only be produced by a small handful of precision engineering companies.

Why UTP?

For this project to be successful, it was vital to have a workforce with the right skills and aptitude, the right equipment and the right environment. UTP developed a technique to measure and control the environment and the temperatures both on the grinder and in the workshop (prior to the move to the new, purpose-built facility, which benefits from state of the art environment and temperature control).

The project required working closely with the client on the air gauge system, ensuring measurement of tolerances to the required standard. As an aside, a conventional precision engineering company would use traditional grinding for the O seal grooves, whereas UTP have developed a technique which exceeds customer requirements and standards.
